HOUSTON, TEXAS - July 18, 2020: Like many families in the area, the Rodriguez family was hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. Their trailer flooded and they had to wade through high waters to be rescued by an 18-wheeler truck. Dominga, who can't swim, wore a lifejacket. Norma carried a pet chicken and the family cat in a backpack. After the flood water receded, the family lost many of their belongings, including a car that flooded and still sits in their carport, now used as storage. Many of the items salvaged from the flood are piled in plastic bags inside the home and have yet to be sorted. The family has more pressing priorities at the moment.
